Outreach Overview

This year Vespers has teamed up with La Escuela de Amor y Esperanza in Quito, Ecuador. The GC Community has and will be providing the monthly salary for the 8th grade teacher. This is the first year Amor y Esperanza has provided schooling through eighth grade. By providing schooling for the eighth graders, Amor y Esperanza has given them a hope to continue their education and make it to college- a dream that seemed unreachable before this year for many of the kids. It is the goal of Vespers to engage the GC community and form long-lasting relationships with the people of Amor y Esperanza. Our hope is that everyone will be involved in some way.

Pen-Pals

Pen-pal system:
We have started a pen-pal system with the eighth grade. Twenty-two Greenville students write letters to the 8th grade of Amor y Esperanza monthly. The letters give the children hope and build meaningful relationships between two people that live thousands of miles away. There are currently no slots open for more pen-pals, however if you would like to get involved next semester or if any slots open up, please contact Maria Rodriguez. Weekly Offerings

Weekly offering and faculty matching:
We take a weekly offering after Vespers every Thursday to pay a teachers salary. If every student donated 42 cents a week, we would have the full salary. Furthermore, we have started a faculty matching program, where faculty members match the amount of money that the students raise every month. If you are interested in becoming a faculty or community matcher, please contact Nicole Graham at 200906218@panthers.greenville.edu

Ecuador Mission

Become an active member of the Ecuador team:

We meet together on a regular basis to talk about fundraisers, current issues in the neighborhood of Carmen Bajo and ways we can get the GC community more involved. We're always looking for a fresh perspective on how to actively engage the communities of Greenville and Carmen Bajo. If you are interested please email Nicole Graham.
